#90 Make Jelly, jam, or preserves

I was a little worried about getting raspberries for our jam since the Ralph's just down the street is closing due to lack of funds. However I got lucky and just before they closed their raspberries went on sale for .99 for a 6 oz package which in california is a steal. most of the time raspberries run anywhere from $2-$4 a package.

ready to make jam with mommy...shes excited because daddy she cant wait to surprise daddy when he gets home since raspberry jam is his favorite.

first we rinsed the berries. alllll 12 lbs of them

Then we smashed all the berries. this is where i put Madison to work...and work it was for her it took her alot of strength to smash those berries.

She did a really good job smashing the berries then it was time to measure out the sugar.

Then we measured out the berries for the pectin.

Then we stirred in the pectin for 3 minutes

And when we were all done mixing all the berries and filling the jars we ended up with this...

8 beautiful jars of homemade raspberry jam...now who to give one away to?
