15 Months and getting big too fast

This boy is growing soooo fast and he gets to be more and more fun all the time. He has the sweetest little personality. Here's some of the skills he has gained in the last 3 months.

His language skills are sooo good its amazing to me after having his sister who never talked until after she was 2. He can say: No, Hi, Mama, Dada, night night, thank you, hello, cookie, nana (banana), and baba (for drink). He sings old McDonald but usually only joins in at the animal sounds for cow and cat and the EIEIO part.

His gross motor skills are improving almost daily he can walk and he stands for short periods of time really well. He has started to try and run but its more like a wide leg trot and isnt fast at all but is extremely funny.

His fine motor skills are still a pretty big problem he's basically not using them at all but we will keep working on them to improve. he is using crayons and scribbling but its multiple lines all as part of one motion.

His cognitive ability is amazing! he can pick up anything quick and is willing to try anything new or that his sister does. he taught himself to open the front door, something i'm not happy about, if its unlocked and if that door comes open he is a goner!

He loves to help around the house. For example if he sees you throw something away he will gladly pitch in and help pick up the mess and put it in the trash. He helps clean up the playroom when prompted by either myself or Anthony.

he is getting pickier about food but some of his favorites are Avocado, yogurt, pasta of just about any kind, and he eats alot of fruit. a lunch or meal typically includes 2 types of fruits, a vegetable, sometimes a meat but he usually doesnt eat it well, and he rarely eats a grain.

He is such a joy to have around the house, he constantly amazes us and is always making us laugh.

1st big boy haircut

Caleb's hair was getting out of control and I tried just trimming it a few months earlier but it just keeps getting hotter and he looks sooo uncomfortable. On days that are really hot his hair is wet on the underside so I decided it was time to shave it. People always say your going to regret cutting your babies hair the first time...which is why i just trimmed it the first time but I didn't and he is so much happier now.

Before:
 After:
He freaked out so bad he threw up which is normal for his sister but not him.
However mommy is very happy with the haircut!

Cloud 9

Hitting 9 months is a big milestone in any babies life. There are so many things that change. My favorite is that they can eat off the table. no food is off limit except the 5 high allergy foods which are: peanut butter, egg whites, strawberries, honey, and whole milk. Caleb is already eating plenty of chunky food and really its very difficult for him to eat food that is very thin. The thinner it is the more it falls out of his mouth. The shots at 9 months are so minimal it comes down to just a TB test. Since I'm a nurse i can just read it at home and I don't have to take him back to the Dr's office two days later. They also get all their statistics in height, weight, and head circumference. Here's Caleb's:

18lbs 2oz
29 1/4" long
17 1/4" around his head

This boy is starting to get into everything and anything he can. The worst is when he is in his walker. He can reach way too many things in the house and he can move it anywhere he wants. He has also gained a few new skills this month.

  • he has begun crawling on his tummy for most of the month and at 9 months and 22 days he started crawling on his hands and knees. He's very shaky and super slow.
  • Pulls up to standing position on his knees from sitting but doesnt get on his feet or even attempt to.
  • Sits for a prolonged time (10 minutes or more)
  • He has developed a preference for the use of a left hand, which i hope passes and he goes back to his right hand
  • Responds to simple verbal commands like asking him to wave bye bye
  • Comprehends “no no” and usually ignores me when i tell him no
  • he Puts arms in front of face to avoid having it washed
  • He loves to fight me when i try to put his diaper on
  • He eats every thing! you cannot leave anything on the floor and vacuuming is a daily thing
  • Still eats 4 bottles a day and is now eating 3 full meals a day
  • learned how to suck on his baby food pouches

Christmas Afternoon at Grammy's House

Our Christmas schedule is different every year. this year my mom didn't have to work on Christmas day because she had surgery on her foot a few weeks before and it didn't heal well. so after we were done with our Christmas in the morning we cleaned up and headed over to my mom's house to do Christmas with their family. we ate lunch first but after our huge breakfast it was hard to eat much. We were all pretty full except Caleb. who at one point got very angry with me until i realized that he needed a bottle and I totally spaced it (best mom award right there) he was a much more happy camper after he got his bottle.

Mama Opening all these presents is making me tired
didn't even have to tale it out of the box

her minnie mouse obcession was fulfilled at grammy's house.
Caleb got tons of clothes that he desperately needed and Madison got a good mix of both clothes and toys. It was a great Christmas and my mom and sisters spoiled Madison and Caleb greatly.

Christmas Morning at our House

We dont have kids that are desperate to open presents so we let madison come in and come see all the cool presents that Santa brought her and then we had breakfast. Caleb had eggs with cooked apple in it. this was his first "big" boy breakfast instead of baby food. He did great.

The rest of us had eggs with cheese, cinnemon rolls, bacon, and hashbrowns.
After we had breakfast and cleaned it up we moved into the living room and did our own chirstmas.

ready to open presents in their Christmas pajamas's.

we opened stockings first. I wasn't sure Caleb would even participate but he did. He wasn't too into it at first but once he saw the paci in the bottom of the
in his stocking we put books, a monster truck, and some new pacifiers

then on to the good gifts Madison got a doc mc stuffins kit to give check ups
 some foam building blocks
Santa Brought Madison a new razor scooter.

Caleb got 2 new pairs of pants, some books, some toy magnets, and several new shirts

just a few of mine and anthony's

I'm totally in love with my new kitchen aid that the kids and Anthony got me.

 his angels baseball camping chair
 a Tom Brady patriots jersey
and a Gerber utility knife

Christmas becomes more fun every year. I'm already excited to start planning for next year! I also think next year we will try and find a way to integrate the store of Christs birth so we can remind the children of the real reason for Christmas.

Polar Express

Caleb is still a little too small to change his schedule in some crazy manor so we decided to run the polar express instead of walking the Christmas lights like we usually do. so we geared the kids up in their pajama's, got Madison some chocolate milk, and we were off to ride the polar express to see the fantastic Christmas lights.

This was super fun and the kids had a ball ...Caleb even stayed awake the whole time and we were all really surprised.

New Tooth

I'm not sure how well it can be seen but caleb has a new tooth! he is starting to get his bottom tooth and that little stinker is sharp. its fun to see him do things faster than madison now that we know there was something wrong with madison's developement from the beginning. Her first tooth didnt come in until she was over 9 months (which is considered very late they should get them between 6 and 8 months).

I'm one lucky mama. neither one of my babies have done anything crazy when it has come to teething. doesn't cry, still sleeps through the night, most of the time i don't even know its there until they bite me and it's more than gums. happy 7 1/2 months Caleb!

Christmas Countdown Chain

Anthony is getting to really be an amazing dad! Madison's therapy for fine motor and speech through the regional center will stop on her birthday so super dad decided to step in. So for their first craft he decided to make a Christmas countdown chain that she can rip a piece off each night.

All finished and super proud of her chain!

Helping daddy one ring at a time

daddy let her do the stapler! which takes tons of grip strength!
