Letter of the week field trip...I is for Ice Cream

we made a quick run to walmart one morning and it turned out to be a not so quick run and did I mention it was insanely hot that day. Like over 100 degrees hot! the kids were getting frustrated and we had major problems at the register which caused us to stand there while the manager ran around like a chicken with his head cut off for almost 30 minutes. by the time it was all over both kids were at their witz end and to be honest so were me and Anthony. so we decided that on the way home we would stop for a treat for the kids (and the adults) on the way home. Ice cream was a great motivator to keep the munchkins motivated to be good while we were in the store.  

They had a ball eating their ice cream and we got a little hose action to get them cleaned off at the end. Caleb was my favorite since he has never had ice cream he wasn't quite sure what to do with it at first. after i showed him a few times what mommy did he was all in face first. he ate more of the ice cream (and no lunch oops). madison ate about half before she got board and went to play with her scooter outside. It was a quick and fun ice cream trip and the kids loved it.

Letter of the week field trip - J is for Jump

Our letter of the week last week was J but there are only deals for jumping at sky high in Ontario for kids on Monday's so we waited and paid half price and because its made specifically for kids "mommy" was FREE which I think is amazing!

She was totally smitten from the moment we walked in!

For the very first time Madison was able to jump on a trampoline without holding onto something and she didnt fall on the first jump and she actually got up into the air! I love watching her grow and gain new skills its truly a blessing after all she has overcome!

they weren't going to let Caleb jump but he threw such a tantrum that in order to quite him down they gave him a band and I signed a waiver and he was off! this boy knows what he wants, that he wants it, and that a tantrum in public will almost always get him what he wants.

Letter of the Week Field Trip- E is for Egg Hunt

I held off on the letter E a little bit because every year I put together I large Easter egg hunt ever since Madison was just over a year old. this year was our 3rd annual Easter egg hunt and Caleb's first.

Madison did great this year! she hunted the eggs all by herself and I only had to prompt her a couple of times. Not to mention how proud she was of her eggs

Such a fun activity to do with friends. There's no pictures but there was lots of cute little food and treats for all the kids.

Letter of the week field trip- H is for Hammer

The little Hooligans and I have been working on different letters of the week each week. Caleb is usually just along for the ride and probably gets more developmental skills out of it than he does understanding about the actual letter we are learning about. this week we have been learning about the letter H so for our field trip activity to reinforce the letter H I choose to take Madison to the Lowes kids clinic where they get to Hammer a toy together and make their own toy. Today they were making a three sectioned garbage truck toy made out of wood.

 After she finished her truck she turned in her hammer and got a patch to iron on her apron.

 There was alot of help from mommy but she absolutely understood the concept that she had to hit the nail on the head with the hammer in order to make it go down. Her biggest struggle was being able to hit the actual nail hard enough to make it go down. it was a great morning to spend with my little hooligans.

Letter of the week field trip - C is for Caterpillar

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Today we took a trip to Amy's farm in chino. They had this awesome event planned for little kids all about the very hungry caterpillar. They were late getting started and we have had problems with this place before about poor directions and being ontime. However even though they were running late it turned out to be an amazing oportunity for us to walk around the farm and talk about the animals.

to start off they had all the kids sit down and they had several fun songs for them to sing, and a few wiggle activities to do. I was surprised but Madison actually tried to participate and sing some of the songs.

after the songs we waked over to and they let the kids all find rainbow swiss chard leaves with caterpillar holes in it. they had each of the kids pick 4 leaves, 3 with holes, and 1 without. after we picked our swiss chard we waked over to the animal pens and fed several animals including a turkey.

 

 after we fed and pet all the animals they walked us over to a large field and passed out these cute caterpillars made out of pool noodles and duck tape. They had several activities for the kids with the pool noodle caterpillars. First...

 

they told them all about the life cycle of the caterpillar. Then the helped them act out the life cycle of the caterpillar.

After the caterpillar life cycle they had a craft for all of the kids. Madison did a good job doing most of the craft on her own. they only part she couldn't do was closing the hole punch. After the craft they read them the book the very hungry caterpillar. My kids know this book well ...we have 3 different copies. it was a great Saturday with my minnions and well worth the $15 for all that they got to do.
